Women and The LawThis course explores different substantive areas of the law which have had a particular impact on the personal and professional lives of women. Among the topics the course will cover are employment discrimination, comparable worth, divorce, equitable distribution, child custody, the battered spouse syndrome, and property laws affecting women. In addition, the course will examine some of the difficulties and obstacles impeding the advancement of women in the legal profession including gender-bias in the court systems and the tensIon between career and family responsibilities.
