TRANSFERRING BETWEEN DIVISIONS

Transferring to the day division after first year evening:
(all credits earned through summer courses at Fordham)
1. Submit an Application to Transfer Divisions form to the Registrar’s Office no later than May 1.

2. MUST TAKE Constitutional Law or Civil Procedure + an Elective or Externship (6 credits)
Whichever of the Con Law or Civil Pro courses are not taken during the Summer Session, must be successfully completed during the student’s first semester of their second academic year of law school. (Independent studies cannot be taken to fulfill residency requirements.) 

Tuition. Fordham students enrolled in summer courses at Fordham to transfer from the part-time to the full-time program prior to second year shall pay residency tuition equal to the difference between the full-time program and the part time program tuition for the academic year ending the June prior to attendance at the summer school in which they earn residence credit. This residency fee will be charged in lieu of summer tuition or externship administrative fees.
**For the 2010 Summer Session, residence credit tuition is $11,090.
SUMMER STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS:

In order to meet residency requirements, students participating in either the summer Ireland or Korea programs, you will be required to:

Ireland Program: In addition to registering for 4 credits in the regular program, must register for one of the program’s extension courses.  If you do not plan to registrar for the extension course, you will be required to enroll in another ABA-approved summer program (that does not conflict with this program) subject to the Registrar’s approval.

Korea Program:  In addition to registering for 4 credits in the regular program, must participate in the program’s credit-bearing internship component.  If you do not plan to registrar for the internship, you will be required to enroll in another ABA-approved summer program (that does not conflict with this program) subject to the Registrar’s approval.

Ghana Program:  You will be required to enroll in another ABA-approved summer program (that does not conflict with this program) subject to the Registrar’s approval.

In addition to tuition and other costs associated with these programs, students will be assessed the additional transferring divisions fee.

Transferring divisions – other situations:
To transfer divisions must submit an Application to Transfer Divisions form in the Registrar’s Office no later than August 1st for the fall semester or December 1st  for the spring semester. Application forms are available online at the Registrar’s Webpages/Office.
Tuition. Students transferring from the part time evening division to the full time day division shall pay residency tuition equal to the difference between the full time and the part time tuition for the year(s) in which they were part time students. The amount of the residency tuition payment shall be reduced by an offset equal to the actual cost of the credits earned at Fordham in order to obtain residence credit. With respect to credits earned elsewhere in order to obtain residence credit, the amount of the tuition payment shall also be reduced by treating those credits as if they had been earned at Fordham.
