Alumni Association Announces Cronin, Hill as 2007 Medal WinnersJanuary 17, 2007
The Fordham Law Alumni Association has named Denis Cronin and Margaret Hill as the 2007 recipients of the Association's Medal of Achievement, the highest honor given by Fordham Law to its alumni.
The Medal, given annually to Fordham alumni who exemplify the outstanding qualities of a career lived in the service of others, will be presented to Cronin and Hill at the FLAA Annual Luncheon on March 3, 2007.
"Peggy Hill and Denis Cronin are two of Fordham Law's truly exceptional alumni," said William Michael Treanor, Dean and Professor of Law. "They both have been tremendously successful in their careers, but have also given back, both to the community and to the Law School. I'm thrilled we can honor their dedication and excellence with this award."
Ms. Hill has enjoyed a successful career as a theatrical producer. Her recent production of Frozen, starring Swoosie Kurtz, won a Tony in May of 2004 and received four additional nominations. After graduation from Fordham Law, Ms. Hill clerked for the Honorable Kenneth B. Keating of the New York Court of Appeals, and worked as an associate at Greenbaum, Wolff, & Ernst. Ms. Hill has been very involved in charitable work, co-founding Angela's House, a home for mothers with infant children. She served as the co-chair of the Fordham Law School Centennial Celebration and previously served as the chair and emcee of the Annual Luncheon.
Mr. Cronin is a founding partner of Cronin & Vris, LLP, a boutique bankruptcy firm in New York. Before starting Cronin & Vris, he worked for 15 years as a partner in the Bankruptcy/Creditors' Rights Group at Wachtel, Lipton Rosen & Katz, where he was also managing partner. Cronin, a 1972 graduate of the School, serves as the Chair of Fordham Law's Dean's Planning Council and has also served as president of the FLAA and chairman of the Law School's 90th Anniversary celebration. He has also served as chair of the Law School Annual Fund.
The FLAA Annual Luncheon at the Waldorf=Astoria is widely regarded as one of the largest law school alumni events in the country, with more than 700 alumni attending each year.
