LALSA Wins Best Brief at National Competition

March 11, 2010

Edgar Ortega '12 and Alexandra Acosta '12, members of Fordham Law's Latin American Law Students Association, won Best Petitioner Brief at the 15th Annual Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition. The competition, held at the University of San Diego School of Law, brought together students from 34 of the country's top law schools at the Hispanic National Bar Association's Mid-Year Conference.

The competition had students examining questions regarding law and appellate review standards that mirrored U.S. v Skillings, a recent Supreme Court case.

"Edgar and Alex worked extremely hard on the brief," said team coach and LALSA moot court chair Martin De Luca '10. "This success is especially remarkable because Alex and Edgar were the only 1Ls competing. Their intelligence, hard work and perseverance led to this incredible success."
