Alumnus Elected President of Westchester County Bar Association

Peter P. Zeltner '71, a lawyer in Scarsdale, was elected president of the Westchester County Bar Association. He will succeed Salvatore A. Lagonia of Yorktown; his term begins May 14, 2009.

Zeltner is a partner at Bertine, Huffnagel, Headley, Zeltner, Drummond & Dohn LLP. His practice is concentrated on trusts and estate work, as well as commercial and real estate transactions.

His involvement with the WCBA includes service on the Board of Directors from 1984 to 1990, as chair of the Judiciary Committee from 1998-2007, and as vice president from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, he was president of the Westchester County Bar Foundation from 2003 to 2005 and is a Fellow of the New York State Bar Foundation.

He also is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association, serving the latter as a member of the House of Delegates from 2003 to 2007, as a member of the Trusts and Estates Law Section. Additionally, he is a member of the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission of the State of New York Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department.

Active in his community, Zeltner was president of United Way of Scarsdale/Edgemont from 1989 to 1991, and he was founding director and president of the Westchester Artificial Kidney Center from 1980 to 1984. He later led the organization during a second term as its president from 2003 to 2005.
