The Fordham Moot Court Board will host the Thirty-Fifth Annual Irving R. Kaufman Memorial Moot Court Competition on March 25-28, 2010. The competition is held in honor of Judge Irving R. Kaufman, a Fordham alumnus who served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit for many years, including a seven year tenure as Chief Judge.

The 2010 Competition Final Round Panel will include Judge Richard A. Posner of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Judge Boyce F. Martin, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit; Judge Paul J. Kelly, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and Judge Jane R. Roth, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

The Competition offers teams the opportunity to test their appellate advocacy skills before distinguished members of the judiciary and securities practitioners from the leading New York firms, investment banking houses, and federal and state agencies.  In years past, the Kaufman Competition has attracted such distinguished jurists as Justice Antonin Scalia, Justice Byron White, Judge Frank H. Easterbrook of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Judge Richard Posner of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and Commissioner Annette L. Nazareth of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Important rule changes: (1) Font changed to Courier font, 12 point. (2) Length changed to 35 pages. (3) The brief certification statement can accompany the brief submission on February 19, 2010.
