LL.M. Scholarships

The Feerick, Treanor, and Martin Scholarships are named in honor of three former Fordham Law School deans who contributed enormously to the development of our LL.M. programs: John D. Feerick, William Michael Treanor, and Michael M. Martin. The scholarships are awarded annually to exceptional applicants to the full-time program who are found to possess character traits embodied by one or more of these great leaders. The scholarships provide funding equal to 100% of the LL.M. tuition. Recipients remain responsible for fees, housing, travel, books, and other expenses. No student's total Fordham scholarship award amount may exceed the tuition. As such, Feerick, Treanor, and Martin awardees will need to decline any other Fordham scholarships in order to accept one of these 100% tuition scholarships.

How to Apply: To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must (1) ensure that their on campus LL.M. application is completed and (2) submit a 500-word essay describing why you believe that you possess the character traits of one or more of these former Law School deans. The essay should be emailed to [email protected] with the subject “Feerick, Treanor, and Martin Scholarship Essay.” Along with the essay, the Admissions Committee will make awards based on all materials in each applicant’s file. Preference will be given to applicants who do not have third-party funding already in place.

Scholarship Deadline: February 1 (fall admission)

*Those seeking to start their LL.M. studies in spring should submit their applications to the preceding fall term to be considered for the Feerick, Treanor, or Martin Scholarship.  If awarded, recipients may defer their start date to spring. Feerick, Treanor, and Martin Scholarships may not be delayed for more than one semester.

The admissions committee awards partial scholarships to select on campus and online LLM applicants based on merit. To be considered, check the box on your application stating that you wish to be considered for a Graduate Student Scholarship.  This can be found under the section, "Additional Information."  Graduate Student Scholarships are awarded at the sole discretion of the admissions committee during their review of completed applications.  Priority consideration is given to those with applications completed by the early, scholarship deadline, February 1 (fall) and September 21 (spring). Those applying to our online LLM program in Corporate Compliance for the summer start are also eligible for scholarship consideration. Graduate program staff will notify applicants if they have been selected for a merit scholarship award.

Graduate Student Scholarships may not be deferred to a later semester.  Applicants who defer their admission may request to have their application file reconsidered for a Graduate Student Scholarship during the review process for the semester to which they defer.

Named after Professor Joel Reidenberg, a leading scholar in both information privacy and information technology, the Joel Reidenberg Scholar is an LL.M. student who has demonstrated excellence in the field of information technology, data privacy, or intellectual property law, and who reflects Professor Reidenberg’s pioneering spirit and deep commitment to the field. The Reidenberg Scholar will receive a scholarship for $10,000. This award may be accepted along with other partial, merit-based scholarship from Fordham. No student's total Fordham scholarship award amount may exceed the tuition.

How to apply: To be considered, check the box on your application under the "Additional Information" section stating that you wish to be considered for the Joel Reidenberg Scholarship. Priority consideration is given to those with complete applications by February 1 (fall admission).

The Roger Goebel Scholar is an LL.M. student who has demonstrated excellence in the field of European or corporate law and who manifests the intellectual and scholarly curiosity of Professor Goebel, a pioneering scholar of European Union law in the United States and founder of the Center on European Law at Fordham Law School. The Goebel Scholar will receive a scholarship for $10,000. The can be accepted in addition to other partial, merit-based scholarships awarded by Fordham Law. No student's total Fordham scholarship award amount may exceed the tuition.
