Semester and Year Long Study Abroad Programs

Fordham offers three double-degree programs that permit select students to spend their third year at the host institution. Upon successful completion of the study abroad year, students will receive the J.D. from Fordham Law and a master-level degree from the host instution.

*Semester study may also be possible.

• a statement of the reasons for the proposed study abroad;
• a statement of why the proposed study cannot be satisfied though one of the Law School's exchange partners;
• a list of the courses that the student proposes to take and how they relate to the student's professional and academic objectives; and
• a description of contacts and interactions with the local legal community that the student proposes to undertake through the proposed study and how the student will arrange such interactions. 

The student should also provide evidence of sufficient foreign language fluency if courses are not taught in English.

If the proposed study is approved, the student will work with the Office of International and Non-JD Programs in working out the details of the study abroad, including course requirements.    

• Resume or curriculum vitae.
• Statement of interest, explaining
  (1) why you are interested in study abroad generally, and in the specific program for which you are applying.
  (2) your academic and professional objectives in studying abroad and what you hope to achieve through the international study.
  (3) relevant experiences and/or courses of study that reflect an interest in this particular study abroad.
• An unofficial transcript of your Fordham Law School studies.
• Statement and/or proof of language proficiency, if required.

In addition, you will need to provide the names of two Fordham School of Law Professors who can be consulted as to your interest in and qualifications for study abroad, at least one of whom is a member of the full-time faculty.

You will be directed off the Fordham Law website to the Adobe® Formscentral secure server.

Students should consult Fordham Law School's academic and other calendars to be aware of important dates, including events hosted by the Office of Career Services.
