Registration Procedure
Who Can Register
The Summer Institute program is open to international law students and graduates with an interest in U.S. law. There are no specific academic requirements in order to register for this program. All courses will be conducted in English, but we do not require any language assessment scores.
Many students who are coming to the United States for an LL.M. degree find this program helpful as an introduction to law school life prior to their studies. Each year we also welcome many international students who are in the process of obtaining their degree, along with international graduates and practitioners who are interested in U.S. law.
When to Register
The deadline for registration and full payment is June 15. However, space in the program is limited and early registration is encouraged. We expect this program to fill before the registration deadline. Participants are accepted to the program in the order in which complete registrations, including the $500 deposit, are received.
How to Register
In order to complete the registration process, please complete the registration form. Please note that at the time of registration, you will be required to upload your resume/curriculum vitae and a passport style photo. You should have these files ready before starting the registration process.
Once you have submitted your registration form, please submit a $500 deposit or pay in full online by credit card. Alternatively, you may submit a check or money order to the address below. The deposit is applied toward the program cost and is nonrefundable, unless a student is not accepted into the program. Please note that submitting a program deposit is the only way to secure a seat in the program.

Obtaining a Visa
Students who require a visa for their participation in the Summer Institute must complete an AFCOE visa form and financial statement. This form should be submitted to the Office for International Services. Only registrants who have submitted the program deposit may apply for a visa. For more information, please visit our visa information page.
Summer Institute + Recent Developments in U.S. Law Program
Law graduates with a few years or more of practice experience are invited to take part in a combined program that includes both the Summer Institute and Recent Developments in U.S. Law programs. Participants will attend the first and last week of the Summer Institute, and will participate in the full Recent Developments in U.S. Law program. Students will be charged the Summer Institute rate and will be able to choose from the Summer Institute housing options. Limited spaces are available for those who wish to take advantage of both programs.
