LENDERS AND SERVICERS
- The holders of your loans - Federal, institutional or private loans. They sometimes hire servicers to manage the loan repayment activities such as billing, collections, and deferments. Keep all communications with your lenders and servicers.
- If your loans are passed on to servicers, the terms of your loan do not change. If your loans are sold, the lender will notify you.
- Lenders/servicers are to notify you when you are to start repayment and how much the monthly payments will be. If you do not hear from your lender or servicer by the middle of June, call or write to them. Make sure they have your current address and telephone number. Remember, you are responsible for repaying the loan so you want to make sure you and your lender/servicer don't lose touch.
