Visiting Students/Study AbroadStudents Visiting at Fordham Law Visiting students at Fordham Law School must initiate the financial aid process with their home schools. They should inform their Financial Aid Offices of their plans to study abroad (i.e.,study at Fordham Law) and request that consortium agreements be faxed to Fordham Law's Financial Aid Office. Visiting students should provide the following contact information to their Financial Aid Office: Judy Arias
Fordham Students Studying Elsewhere Fordham students who wish to study at a school outside of Fordham during the fall, spring or summer may borrow federal or private loans to cover their expenses. The host school must complete a consortium agreement before Fordham can certify these loans. Consortium agreements allow Fordham Law School to inform home schools of their students' enrollment status and academic performance. Fordham's cost of attendance for law students is also disclosed to home schools via this agreement. But, the most important purpose of the consortium agreement is to allow home schools to transfer financial aid, such as federal and private loans, to Fordham for tuition payment. The Student Accounts Office mails bills at least one month prior to the start of classes, if not earlier. Therefore, visiting students should monitor the status of their consortium agreements to ensure completion one month prior to the start of the academic term. If consortium agreements are completed on time, visiting students' tuition balance can be covered by the bill due date. Delays in this process can risk assessment of late fees by Bursar. Home schools usually make refund checks out to students, Fordham Law School, or both. If checks are made out to students only, then students will have to sign the checks over to Fordham's Enrollment Services department for payment of their tuition account. Any remaining credit on the accounts can be refunded to students as long as the balances are covered in full and consortium agreements are filed with Fordham Law's Financial Aid Office. Home schools must mail all checks to: Fordham University Please note that any part of the tuition balance that is not covered by financial aid must be paid out of pocket by bill due date. |
