Job Experience

Dr. Silvia Hodges regularly researches, speaks, and publishes on law firm management and marketing. She was awarded the first PhD in law firm marketing. Her thesis at Nottingham Law School with Prof. Stephen Mayson examined marketing and buying of legal services in the context of medium-sized companies from theoretical and empirical perspectives. Silvia lectured on her PhD as well as her most recent research, the influence of procurement on the purchasing of legal services, at Harvard Law School.
 
She conducted a number of studies on international buying behavior, including Europe (Germany, UK, France, Italy), Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Peru), and the US for LexisNexis, American Lawyer Media, as well as the Legal Marketing Association. Prior to entering academia, Silvia worked as a marketing manager and consultant to a number of law firms.
 
Silvia holds a master’s degree in Business and a bachelor’s degree in Economics. She studied at the Universität Bayreuth (Germany), Warwick University (UK), and Emerson College. Silvia was awarded the Liam Glynn Research Scholarship of the Arizona State University’s Center for Services Leadership and the Services Marketing Special Interest Group (SERVSIG) of the American Marketing Association (AMA) as well as a scholarship from the German Department of Education and Research.
