Mark Falk has been a United States Magistrate Judge since 2002.  A certified arbitrator, Judge Falk is a member of the American, New Jersey and Essex County Bar Associations, and a former Trustee of the Legal Services Foundation and the Essex County Bar Association.  He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Judge Falk is a member of the National Advisory Committee on the Administration of the Magistrate Judge System.  He also serves on several local court governance committees.  He has also served in several roles on the New Jersey Supreme Court District Ethics Committee for Essex County.  Judge Falk has lectured on a variety of topics at Continuing Legal Education Seminars and has been a guest lecturer at several area law schools.
Admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1977 and the New York Bar in 1983, Judge Falk was a partner with Clapp & Eisenberg for 17 years and two other top NJ law firms  during his 25 years in private practice.  He specialized in complex litigation and served as lead trial counsel in numerous high profile cases and administrative proceedings in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and other jurisdictions.  He also argued numerous appeals in the state and federal court.  Prior to his judicial appointment, Judge Falk also did significant pro bono work.
Judge Falk received his B.A. from Antioch College and his J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School, where he was a published member of the New York Law School Review.  He was law clerk to the Hon. John C. Demos, Assignment Judge, Superior Court.
