NEW YORK - A Fordham University immigration law professor warns that Arizona's new immigration law will lead to racial profiling.

“Enforcement of the newly enacted immigration law invariably will lead to profiling," said Gemma Solimene.

Not only that, Solimene says, "immigration enforcement is not within the purview of the state or state officials," adding, "they lack the expertise to do it effectively.”

She says there will now be potential conflicts between federal and Arizona state law.

“Specific immigration situations people find themselves cannot and will not be understood by local law enforcement and clashes with the state law.”

Other states, most notably Texas, which also suffers an influx of illegal immigration, are considering following Arizona's lead.
