Fordham School of Law Hosts Regional ABA Negotiation CompetitionNovember 20, 2003
New York, NY - Fordham School of Law hosted the regional ABA Negotiation Competition on November 15-16, 2003. As the 2003 National and Regional Negotiation Champions, Fordham hosted the regional competition, which consisted of 28 teams from 15 law schools across the Northeast. After numerous high quality rounds, the Fordham Team was among the four teams that made it to the Final Round, which also included teams representing Albany Law School, Pace Law School and Western New England School of Law. The top team among the Final Four was Western New England School of Law.
The event was orchestrated by the Fordham Dispute Resolution Society. Cora MacLean, Chair of the Fordham Dispute Resolution Society and part of the 2003 National Champion Fordham Team, found the negotiation competitions to be among "the most significant experiences I've had to date, as they closely parallel those scenarios I will likely encounter in practice. In my role as Co-Coordinator of this year's Regional Round, I was deeply gratified to provide a positive experience for so many students." Professor Jacqueline Nolan-Haley, Faculty Advisor to the Fordham Dispute Resolution Society, praised the students involves in the competitions: "The level of preparation invested by these students is matched only by their zealous advocacy and problem-solving skills. It's wonderful to know that the future of ADR is entrusted to professionals such as these."
