THREE-PEAT: Fordham Win ABA Representation in Mediation Regional Competition Again!

February 27, 2006

photoThe Fordham Dispute Resolution Society hosted the ABA Representation in Mediation Regional Competition this weekend. Four of our students, Kim DiLorenzo (LAW '07)/Jarret Hova (LAW '07) and Kristin Hiensch (LAW '06)/Mark Torres (LAW '08) competed against a field which included Buffalo, Cardozo, Hofstra and Touro. Seth Piken (LAW '07) and Stephen Grable (LAW '07) coached the squads. Grable and Piken were themselves 2005 Regional Champions and last year's National Runners-up.

Upon the conclusion of the Preliminary Rounds, DiLorenzo and Hova were the top-seeded team, while Hiensch and Torres were in a three-way tie for Second Place. After the tie was broken, that Fordham team finished in Third Place.

DiLorenzo and Hova faced a Cardozo team in the Regional Final and swept the championship by unanimous decision. This is the third consecutive year Fordham has earned Regional Champion honors, and the fourth such feat in five years. DiLorenzo and Hova will next compete at the Mediation National Championship to be held in Atlanta, GA April 5-6, 2006.

The entire Fordham Dispute Resolution Society is thrilled with the performance of all of the Society's competitors in this competition and eagerly look forward to challenging for the national championship in Atlanta. The Society continues to solidify Fordham's richly-deserved status as a pre-eminent ADR program. In large measure, these gains are made possible through the unwavering support of Faculty, Administration and Alumni.
