AN EXCITING EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM
A COMPLETE LEGAL EDUCATION does not begin and end in the classroom. Legal theory must be balanced with real-world practice. With Fordham's Externship program, you learn the law by doing.
And there's no better place to practice law than in New York City. You can find externships in every industry all over the city: from the cultural mecca of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to the hallowed judicial halls of U.S. District Courts. Whether you're working for a non-profit organization or government office, you will develop the professional skills and judgement needed to become a complete lawyer.
Through the Clinical Externship program, you will:
- experience diverse areas of the law
- understand the structure of different institutions and the role the law plays in each
- consider issues of ethics, professionalism, and accountability in the legal workplace
- engage in public service
Under the supervision of mentor-attorneys, you can perform legal work in:
Government agencies
Judges' chambers
Non-profit organizations
