CPC-Hosted Employer Receptions at Fordham Law School

The Career Planning Center will be hosting several Employer Receptions at Fordham Law School in an effort to introduce students to employers. Each of the Employer Receptions will be held in the Atrium at the Law School on the following dates, at the times specified:
     Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
     Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
     Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
     Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
     Tuesday, January 31, 2013 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
At each reception we can accommodate up to 9 employers.  We welcome employers from all geographic regions. For the Spring 2013 semester, there will be no catering fee for employers participating in these receptions.   Participating employers are welcome to have up to five (5) representatives attend a Reception, bring marketing materials, a poster (with easel), and other materials.  There will also be a Raffle for students at each Reception; employers are welcome to participate in the Raffle by providing a giveaway that can be offered as a prize.   Why participate in the Raffle?  The purpose of the Raffle is not to give prizes to the students. Rather, the purpose of the Raffle is to help break the ice.  By participating in the Raffle, you make it easier for students to approach your representatives at the Reception and initiate a conversation.   Employers who participate in the Raffle will be provided with a fishbowl and raffle-entry cards. In order to enter the Raffle to "win" your donated item, students will have to enter their contact information on the cards and drop them into your fishbowl.  At the end of the Reception, you will:
  • choose a winner from the fishbowl,
  • provide the name of the winner to a member of our staff, who will notify the student, and
  • take all the raffle-entry cards back to your office, thereby giving you the contact information of all the students you spoke with at the Reception. 

    • LOTTERY: The Career Planning Center will conduct a lottery of interested employers to determine which 9 employers will participate in each of the Employer Receptions.  Employers interested in participating in this lottery should contact Mitchell Weitz by email (weitz@law.fordham.edu) by 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.

     All employers will receive an email by 5:00 pm on Monday, December 10, 2012 informing them whether they received a spot at an Employer Reception and, if so, for which date they received the spot.   As a separate lottery will be run for each of the five Employer Receptions, the CPC requests that you include as many of those five dates as possible and rank them in order of preference.
