Fordham Law Moot Court Program Ranked #8 in Nation

Fordham Law's moot court program has been ranked #8 in the country out of over 100 similar programs. The rankings are compiled by the University of Houston Law Center's Blakely Advocacy Institute and use data for the 2008 – 2009 academic year. The scoring methodology incorporates team awards as well as Best Brief and Best Speaker awards. Moot court competitions that were held throughout the year are divided into three tiers related to the size of the competition.

"This was a year of championships, finalist awards, and oral and brief prizes," said Professor Maria L. Marcus, advisor to Fordham's inter-school moot court program. "Fordham students are highly motivated and continually in the winner's circle."

Highlights of the year include the following accomplishments:

In October, the Criminal Procedure team won the National Championship, earned runner-up Best Speaker, and took fourth place in Best Brief at the University of San Diego National Criminal Procedure Tournament
The Pepperdine National Entertainment Law team received the award for runner-up Best Brief in the nation.
In November, the National Moot Court Competition team won the Regional Championship and Best Speaker award.
The Craven Constitutional Law team members were National Semifinalists.
The Cardozo/BMI Entertainment and Communications Law team members were National Finalists.
The George Washington National Security team members were National Finalists and received the award for runner-up Best Brief in the country.
