Last year was truly a memorable occasion. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. It includes an appearance before the Court, a tour of the Building, and an official group photograph.The following materials are attached: the procedures for the event, an Application for Admission to Practice, and Instructions for Admission to the Bar. Please be mindful that your materials need to be received by the Alumni Relations Office no later than Monday, April 16th. News and RemindersHerman Cain to Speak at Fordham Law Former Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain will speak at Fordham Law on Tuesday, April 10th at 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in McNally Amphitheatre. Cain will discuss his proposal for tax reform, known as the 9-9-9 plan, and will reflect on his experiences in the Republican presidential primary. The event is hosted by The Federalist Society and Fordham Law Republicans. Book Party for Professor Abner Greene Join in the celebration of Professor Abner Greene's new book, Against Obligation: The Multiple Sources of Authority in a Liberal Democracy (Harvard University Press, 2012) on Tuesday, May 1st at 4 p.m. in Law School Room 430 B/C. Fordham Law – New York Cares Day  On Saturday, April 21st, Fordham Law alumni, students and friends will be among the 5,000 volunteers helping to give New York City a spring “greening” for New York Cares Day–Spring. The Fordham Law team will be revitalizing parks, gardens, and other public spaces to make them cleaner, safer, and ready for summer. For this event, New York Cares has a special focus on the city’s waterfront. The Fordham Law team will help restore a portion of New York’s 10 miles of coastline to make these areas more sustainable for plant and animal life and more accessible for city residents. Fordham Undergrad Seeks Law Alumnae Survey Participants Danielle O'Boyle, a senior in the Gabelli School of Business, is working on an undergraduate thesis entitled, "Keeping Women in the Game: The Relation Between Retention of Female Lawyers and Organizational Climate and Culture of Law Firms." She is looking for a sample of both male and female lawyers to take a brief survey about their experiences with their firms' organizational climates and cultures as well as their perceptions of stigmas associated with particular aspects of their firms' climates and cultures. Class NotesSenator Kemp Hannon ’70 has been named by the American Medical Association as a recipient of the 2012 Dr. Nathan A. Davis Awards for Outstanding Government Service in the category “Outstanding Member of a State Legislature.” Hannon received his award February 14, 2012.Eric Lane ’70 has been named interim dean at The Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. To read more, click here. John Hicks ’78 won the $5 million Breeders Cup Classic with "Drosselmeyer" on November 5th at Churchill Downs. Drosselmeyer was retired to stud after the race at Winstar Farm in Lexington, KY with a stud fee of $17500.00. Hicks purchased a 70% interest in Drosselmeyer, the 2010 Belmont Stakes winner, two weeks prior to the running of the Classic. Brian J. McCarthy ’78 has named a new office leader in the Los Angeles office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates. McCarthy is a partner in the firm's corporate practice who was one of the founders of the firm's L.A. office in 1983. Ann M. Waeger ’83, a partner at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, has been added to the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network’s 2012 Board of Directors. Ms. Waeger served on the CREW Network Board of Directors in 2010 and 2011, and was selected by the Nominating Committee as an alternate director in the event of an unexpected vacancy. She is currently serving as Chair of CREW Network’s Chapter Communications Task Force and is a Past Chair of the group’s Member Education Committee. On the local chapter level, she is a past President and former Director of ICREW NJ. John Schneider ’84 has joined Acacia Research Corporation as Vice President. Schneider most recently served as Senior Counsel at Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P. where he represented plaintiffs and defendants in patent infringement litigation for over 10 years. Moran focuses his practice on the use of complex and innovative structures to finance projects in the renewable energy field, as well as in fossil fuel and other infrastructure assets. Rita Glavin ’96 has joined Seward & Kissel to serve as co-head of its newly established government enforcement and internal investigations group. James R. Klaiber ’96 has joined Pryor Cashman LLP's Intellectual Property Group to grow its ranks of patent litigators. Klaiber joins from Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy where he was a pioneer member of their IP practice. Paul M. Sayegh ’98 has joined the New York office of Sills Cummis & Gross. Sayegh, previously with LeClair Ryan, represents financial institutions on commercial finance, secured and unsecured lending and asset-based lending transactions. Carol Challed '99 has been appointed Vice President, Business Operations, Global Animal Health and Strategic Partnerships Group for Henry Schein, Inc. McKenzie A. Livingston ’04 has joined Broad and Cassel as an associate in the firm’s Miami office. Sylvia Shweder ’05 and Jeremy Shweder '08 adopted their son, Adrian Dimitri Shweder, on February 6, 2012. He was born on November 28, 2011. Daniel B. Lundy ’06 has joined the immigration law firm of Klasko, Rulon, Stock & Seltzer, LLP. Philippe Manteau LL.M. ’06 has joined the New York office of Schiff Hardin LLP as a partner. Vivian Arias ’07 has joined Thompson & Knight LLP as Associate in the firm’s New York office Edward Pekarek ’07 and Laura Hunsberger were married February 16th at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan U.S. Courthouse in Manhattan followed by a reception at City Hall Restaurant. Pekarek is a securities law professor for Pace Law School in White Plains, N.Y. Sean Peter Reisman ’07 and Benjamin Edward Miller were married on Friday, March 16th at the Staten Island Marriage Bureau. Reisman works in Minneapolis as a managing attorney for CPA Global, a British company that provides litigation support services for law firms and companies. Kate Belmont ’09 has joined Blank Rome LLP as an Associate in the International and Maritime Litigation and ADR group. Belmont was previously an associate at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP in New York. Abby Gregory ’10 has been named an associate at the McClure Law Group, a boutique law firm dedicated to family law. Brian F. Hannan ’10 has joined the law firm Goldberg Segalla LLP as an associate in the firm’s Princeton, N.J. office.
