Last year was truly a memorable occasion. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. It includes an appearance before the Court, a tour of the Building, and an official group photograph.The following materials are attached: the procedures for the event, an Application for Admission to Practice, and Instructions for Admission to the Bar. News and RemindersHerman Cain to Speak at Fordham Law![]() Former Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain will speak at Fordham Law on Tuesday, April 10th at 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in McNally Amphitheatre. Cain will discuss his proposal for tax reform, known as the 9-9-9 plan, and will reflect on his experiences in the Republican presidential primary. The event is hosted by The Federalist Society and Fordham Law Republicans. Book Party for Professor Abner Greene Join in the celebration of Professor Abner Greene's new book, Against Obligation: The Multiple Sources of Authority in a Liberal Democracy (Harvard University Press, 2012) on Tuesday, May 1st at 4 p.m. in Law School Room 430 B/C. Fordham Law – New York Cares Day ![]() On Saturday, April 21st, Fordham Law alumni, students and friends will be among the 5,000 volunteers helping to give New York City a spring “greening” for New York Cares Day–Spring. The Fordham Law team will be revitalizing parks, gardens, and other public spaces to make them cleaner, safer, and ready for summer. For this event, New York Cares has a special focus on the city’s waterfront. The Fordham Law team will help restore a portion of New York’s 10 miles of coastline to make these areas more sustainable for plant and animal life and more accessible for city residents. Fordham Undergrad Seeks Law Alumnae Survey Participants Danielle O'Boyle, a senior in the Gabelli School of Business, is working on an undergraduate thesis entitled, "Keeping Women in the Game: The Relation Between Retention of Female Lawyers and Organizational Climate and Culture of Law Firms." She is looking for a sample of both male and female lawyers to take a brief survey about their experiences with their firms' organizational climates and cultures as well as their perceptions of stigmas associated with particular aspects of their firms' climates and cultures. Class NotesSenator Kemp Hannon ’70 has been named by the American Medical Association as a recipient of the 2012 Dr. Nathan A. Davis Awards for Outstanding Government Service in the category “Outstanding Member of a State Legislature.” Hannon received his award February 14, 2012.Eric Lane ’70 has been named interim dean at The Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. To read more, click here. John Hicks ’78 won the $5 million Breeders Cup Classic with "Drosselmeyer" on November 5th at Churchill Downs. Drosselmeyer was retired to stud after the race at Winstar Farm in Lexington, KY with a stud fee of $17500.00. Hicks purchased a 70% interest in Drosselmeyer, the 2010 Belmont Stakes winner, two weeks prior to the running of the Classic. Brian J. McCarthy ’78 has named a new office leader in the Los Angeles office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates. McCarthy is a partner in the firm's corporate practice who was one of the founders of the firm's L.A. office in 1983. Ann M. Waeger ’83, a partner at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, has been added to the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network’s 2012 Board of Directors. Ms. Waeger served on the CREW Network Board of Directors in 2010 and 2011, and was selected by the Nominating Committee as an alternate director in the event of an unexpected vacancy. She is currently serving as Chair of CREW Network’s Chapter Communications Task Force and is a Past Chair of the group’s Member Education Committee. Pekarek is a securities law professor for Pace Law School in White Plains, N.Y. Sean Peter Reisman ’07 and Benjamin Edward Miller were married on Friday, March 16th at the Staten Island Marriage Bureau. Reisman works in Minneapolis as a managing attorney for CPA Global, a British company that provides litigation support services for law firms and companies. Kate Belmont ’09 has joined Blank Rome LLP as an Associate in the International and Maritime Litigation and ADR group.
