Kenneth Kimerling is the Legal Director of the Asian American Legal Defense & Education Fund (AALDEF). Since joining AALDEF in April 1997, he has developed a docket of wage and hour cases on behalf of Asian immigrants in the restaurant and garment industries. Several of the garment industry cases seek to hold the manufacturers liable for the conditions in their contractors' factories. Prior to joining AALDEF, Mr. Kimerling was an Associate Counsel at the Puerto Rican Legal Defense & Education Fund (PRLDEF). In his 24 years at PRLDEF, he litigated a broad range of civil rights claims including employment discrimination, housing discrimination, voting rights and education rights.
Since the fall of 1997, Mr. Kimerling has also been an adjunct professor at Fordham. For five years he taught in the clinical program and for the last three years he has taught a seminar on wage and hour laws with a focus on low income immigrant workers.
Mr. Kimerling is a graduate of Columbia College and Columbia University Law School.
